Joining
the Second Gear Club is a great way
to get the family together for some great racing.
There are classes off all skill sets, enabling all riders to enjoy the sport
with the family and other competitors.
Racing
Hare scramble races for the whole family are split between Saturday & Sunday.
Saturday classes include CMA Races (Novice, Intermediate,Expert, Vet, Vet
Expert, SuperVet and the latest and greatest Legends (59+) Riders plus Youth CMA
(ages 10-16)) also Club races for Ladies, Dual Purpose, Sportsman & Super
Sportsman. Sundays are for kids only Club Races.
The morning of race day(s) all volunteers, parents, sponsors and more put all
efforts together to make the most fun out of the days events.
A normal hare scramble race consists of all classes racing on the same marked
course at the same time, each class
start is separated by a couple minutes. For the CMA race, each class has 2 hours
for riders to complete as many laps as they can, course length is ideally
12-16KM long, the average lap time is 19-22 minutes, average laps completed in a
race is 6, some of the top experts pull 8!
Club events vary depending
on the class and race for a maximum of one hour each.

Spectators are found all throughout the
course checking out the action the racers are putting on. Once the racing is
finished, riders pool up at the finish line to gawk at the lap times to see
where they gained their positions, how far the leaders were ahead, and to hear
the very well know "do ya' you know that corner where...".
Trophies!
 Once
all riders are accounted for, everything is cleaned up
and a complimentary club supper is enjoyed by
all. Awards, trophies, plaques and badges
are handed out along with prizes and draws thanks to all the sponsors! Beware if
you roost the check girls, you most likely will be in for another treat.
Whether it be in Alberta's great forests, snow covered lakes, or at the local
events helping to continue the success of dirt biking, the Second Gear Club is a
great way to enjoy every aspect of this great sport!
