Nov.1/06:Awesome windup party....great food, great music and great people!  Barry Singer was awarded the "Ron Mallet Sportsman of the Year" for all his tireless efforts helping out with ice and harescramble events and with his involvement in the GAMP process.  Thank you Barry, you deserve this award.  We added a new annual trophy this year 'the Second Gear Club Youth Sportsperson of the Year" which was awarded to Matt Coonfer.  Matt's a great kid and we appreciate his super attitude and the example he makes for the many younger kids that look up to him.  This year he helped the little guys, he swept and helped flagging too.  Samm Lethbridge and Mitchell Brown won some of the picture contests.  Thank you to Mike Briggs for preparing and running the music, Krista and Joan for manning the admission, Kathy for the lovely table decoration, Samm and Terese for preparing and running the awards ceremony.  Scott for the use of his projector and Amie, Samm, Mitchell & Jay for the great clips viewed all night long.  Of course a big thank you to Siggi for pulling the whole event together.  Have a super Holiday Season...Christmas is a great time to relax? no way, buy biking gear for the family and suit up the bikes with ice tires....!

Update Dec.31/03:
Ghost Lake TrackThe Hewitt's have plowed an awesome track at Ghost Lake.  It's farther north on the lake than in past years.  You can't see if from the road, but rather about a 1km north of the boat ramp.  EVERYONE will be out for New Year's Day - see you then!

Update Dec.6/03:  ORGANIZERS NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU, THE CROSS-COUNTRY RACER!  Are you still interested in cross-country racing?  Do you prefer harescrambles to cross-countries?  Is competing in a series important or is it just as satisfying to win a trophy at individual events?  What should it mean to win a series?  Do we need more national events?  Should we support future ISDE competitors by offering CMA qualifiers?  Want do you want from organizers (be serious)?  Do you care who sanctions the races (CMA, CMRC, etc.)?  Are you interested in club events ie. classic or invitational, kids series, for-fun events.  Email us with your comments.

Newly designed dirt track  - it's now BANKED!  Thanks to Royal & Daryl for buying the new grader and water truck.  Thanks to Doug, Gord, Terry, Siggi, Chad, Cody, and, and for all your work.  Would also like to mention how boring it must have been for a few of you that took their vehicles out to 'harden' the track.  Did anyone clock your race times? Oh, did I say racing? ha ha!  See pictures.

Update Aug.27/03:  September 13th, AURS cleanup at Waiparous!  We need members of the motorcycle community to SHOW UP!  The AURS has made some huge steps to be recognized by the government as an OHV voice.  However, in the past we have had very few motorcycle individuals/enthusiasts present.  This IS important!  Bring the family.  Check the AURS sight for further location & time details.

AURS - A Partnership for the Future

Update Aug.27/03:  The only thing better than a day dirt tracking is TWO days of dirt track racing in a row on Sep.20th & 21st!  Let us know if you would be interested in having 2 club races on the same weekend.  This would include Dirt Track & TT racing each day.

The club also decided to use Blackfoot's insurance, so all you do is pay the normal $15 gate fee (this is your insurance) and then $10 entry for the class and $5 for each additional class.  Pretty cheap weekend!  The dirt track was suppose to be a CMA Top Gun event but we decided that given the additional expense for CMA insurance - we just wouldn't be able to afford it without upping the entry fee.

The club has also had a suggestion to put on a swap meet for the same weekend!  Let me know if you would have any motorcycle stuff to sell and I will post a general list.

Update Aug.25/03:Dirt Track/TT racing September 20th & 21st at Blackfoot Motorpark in Calgary.  Great news, we now have a grader for our use thanks to Daryl MacRae and Royal Adderson.  Last week Royal was out there sweatin' to get some slope on the track.  Doug Houston had a backhoe to dig the trench for the water pipe & culver.  Work is not yet completed and we could use all the help we can get this Wednesday to finish grading and placing the culvert in corner one (where the wet spot is).  Looks promising that we'll have an awesome track for the 20th & 21st.  Need to know what classes will be needed.  Please email me with the class or size of bike you have so we can make plans.  Also, let me know if you are interested and/or have a bike for the vintage class. info@secondgearclub.com

Update Aug.25/03 Just received some great pictures from the Extreme weekend.  Check back next week to view the new photo gallery (trials, field event, XC, kids, quads).

CMA Moose Mountain XC was rescheduled to August 24th at Fallen Timber!  Jim Titmus & Jarod Thomas and, and, and put on a good event.  Unfortunately, rescheduling and fire situation took a toll on the number of registered riders.  However, it great to know we all can start fresh next year.  The cross country series for both CMA & CMRC took a hard hit this year.  Update results will be posted as soon as we can get our hands on them!

August 23rd Moose Mtn Ladies & Kids race displayed awesome competition.  Despite low turnout, there was no shortage of excitement and the desire to WIN!  This was the final event for the 2003 Second Gear Club Series Championship that  was sponsored by Legacy Kitchens.  Check out the final standings.  Series Championship trophies were awarded to those that showed up at the event.  Those winners that would like to pickup or make arrangements to receive their trophy should call us at 403-274-0834 or email at info@secondgearclub.com.  Otherwise, your trophy will be waiting for you at the CMA annual meeting this fall.  Thank you to everyone that showed up this year.  Check out the final results 2003 Second Gear Club Series Championship

CMRC Crowsnest harescramble & cross country has been cancelled due to forest fires.

August 16th & 17th CMA Xtreme Cross Country!

The race was a success - weather perfect and not problems with forest fires!  Check out the updated results!

2003 kids & ladies results.  Unofficial 2003 CMA XC results.

August 16th Fallen Timber Field Event (Dirtbike Trial) Fallen Timber Field Event Results Again we had lots of spectators but short on riders.  Riders appeared to have had a blast.  Many surprising themselves at how well they could do on the Log Run which consisted of four logs ranging from 1 foot to over 2 feet high.

August 16th Fallen Timber Trial Fallen Timber Trial Results can be viewed on the Trials Canada web.  Jano was our course master and did a great job.  Lots of spectators.  Great to have many of the trials riders camp out with us cross country folk.

August 16th Fallen Timber QUAD Cross Country Fallen Timber Quad XC Results Rod Chandler did a great job flagging.  Course was approximately 5 km in length and riders completed 6 laps.  Fairly tight course through the trees and cutlines.  However, if carefully navigated, the boys found ways to pass.  All riders had a great time, even Barry after he crashed into a tree and injured his thumb.

July 20th Rocky Mountain House Trial, Which was held at the farm of local enthusiast Byrnie Schroderus, attracted another good turnout of riders.  The course, that consisted of both natural hazards and man made obstacles, took points from everybody, but had the right amount of "easy" sections that made all riders feel like hero's - It was local ace Chris Tronnes, who showed that he still has what it takes, and he handily beat out buddy Neal Ward, and born again Trials rider Rob Doel., Complete results can be seen later on the Trials Canada web site.......... you heard it first from the "Second Gear club"....... Report & Pictures by Outlaw Dave.

New web page for club will continue to be upgraded.  Race results, calendars and more photos will be added every day.  Thanks for your patience while we learn the ins & outs of web page building.

Cody places 1st ahead of Darrel at one the June 11th Dirt Track club races held at Blackfoot Motorpark.  Full results to follow.

Royal Addersson instructed new and old riders on the techniques of dirt tracking.  We had a wide variety of students from pro roadracer Clint McBain to street riding instructor Dee Lawrence.  It was Dee's first time on a flat track, but she had no problem keeping up with the calibur of racers she was up against.  Hopefully we can convince Royal to instruct a few more riders over the summer months.

Insurance & Registration a must for anyone riding on crown land.  The forestry will be enforcing.  No more warings or options to present paperwork at a later date - must be with you at all times.  Tickets will issued for $230 for no registration AND $230 for no insurance.  Some brokers won't insure kids or riders under 14 but call around as there are borkers that will eg. Statefarm, Allianz.  If you need more information, email us and we will be happy to forward a few brokers and their numbers.
