RE: JUNE 2 MCLEAN CREEK SINGLE TRACK TRAIL
CLEAN UP
Thanks to everyone that came out to the trail clean up on June
2nd and thanks again to the Rocky Mountain Dirt Riders and Mike
Dobovich for providing another great BBQ for the hungry
volunteers on their return from the trails. We didn’t have as
many people as the previous weekend. There was 40 volunteers
that went after 14 trails, and 9 were completed. After both
organized clean up days 30% of the single track trails in McLean
Creek have been cleared for riding. Therefore, it is necessary
to move on to phase 2 of the clean up which entails asking
everyone who rides at McLean Creek, especially those that were
unable to make it out to the May 26 or June 2nd clean up days,
to form their own group of 3 or 4 riders with a minimum of one
chainsaw, preferably two chainsaws, then contact me, and I will
provide a map with one or two single track trails that need
clearing, and I can also take you to the trail head if need be.
This obviously can be done on each group’s own choice of time
and convenience and therefore hopefully this will enable
everyone to participate. Once the trails have been cleared,
please contact me again and advise as to the status as I am
keeping an inventory of all single track trails and which trails
still require work, etc.
If you are riding the single track trails in McLean Creek and
you are not planning on participating and clearing out trails,
you would then be part of the problem and not the solution, as
the few trails that we have open will quickly get over-ridden
and pounded out.
Please pass the word around to anyone you know that rides at
McLean Creek, and anyone can give me a call at 254-5276 or email
at
sandyanddylan@shaw.caI am
committed to seeing this project through to the end, however we
do need a lot more help and a lot more work is still to be done
to save our once great riding area so close to the City.
